at ease and making your surgery as stress-free
as possible. Please read through the following
frequently asked questions. If you have any
additional questions, feel free to contact us.
Q:
How long do I need to wait to shower after my
surgery?
A: Normally, a good rule of thumb is three (3)
days, unless otherwise stated by your physician.
Q:
How long should I wait to drive after my
surgery?
A: If you do not need to take narcotic
medications, it is okay to drive.
Q:
Do I need to cut my body hair before the
surgery?
A: No, the operating attendants
will use clippers. Clippers have been shown to
reduce your chance of infection.
Q:
Do I need to do anything prior to my surgery?
A: Instructions will be given at the time of
scheduling, but normally you should not eat or
drink past midnight the night before your
surgery. Also, you should wash the areas to be
operated on with antibacterial soap the night
before and morning of the surgery.
Q:
The prep for my colonoscopy is making me
nauseated. What can I do?
A: Try adding ginger ale or apple juice. Be sure
to finish all the prep though; a non-clean colon
means the doctor may have to repeat or
reschedule.
Q:
I'm constipated. What can I take?
A: Try Magnesium Citrate or Citroma, available
at supermarket or 99 cent stores. Get one bottle
and take 1/2 bottle with ginger ale or apple
juice, wait 4-6 hrs. If still no bowel movement
then take other half of the bottle, this will
work.
Q:
I'm very nauseated. What can I take?
A: Go to a pharmacy, no script needed, and pick
up bottle of Emetrol. Take as directed works
very well.
Q:
How long will it take to schedule my
surgery?
A: Usually
the office can schedule within 7 business days.
